Richard Morgan (b. 1965) is a British science fiction author.
He graduated from either Queens' College, Cambridge where he read History. He so temporarily enter English Language Teaching in order to travel the world. Fourteen years & the post at Strathclyde University later, he finally got his foremost book published. He is presently pursuing the degree inside development economics.
A most common theme of Richard Morgan's books is that it choose place around the dystopia. Around 2002 he published his first novel, Altered Carbon. It was the cyberpunk novel that blended hardboiled detective fiction and science fiction and was centered on the anti-hero Takeshi Kovacs. the film rights for the book sold for a reported figure of $1,000,000 to film producer Joel Silver, enabling Morgan to become the fulltime writer. Around 2003 the U.S. edition received the Philip K. Dick Award.
He wrote Broken Angels, a sequel to Altered Carbon, inside 2003. Broken Angels featured Takeshi Kovacs, & blended science fiction & war fiction in a similar way to his cross-genre debut.
Market Forces was the foremost non-Kovacs novel, placed in the non too distant new. It was originally written as the short story, so a screenplay (each unpublished). When a profits of his foremost 2 works, it was freed as a novel & has too been optioned as a film.
Morgan's third Kovacs novel Woken Furies was released inside the UK in March 2005 and will be freed in the U.S. inside September 2005.
Richard Morgan too contributed plot & dialogue to the comic book series Black Widow: Homecoming.
